Helmet Camera might help someone out! 3 car pile up (all fine!)

This all sounds cracking filming, a very good bit of civil-mindedness Thomas.
I also love watching car crashes, but only if 'no-one is hurt in the making of this video'. Not ghoulish much!

Sounds like the gobby one who caused it was very aware of what she had done and was futilely trying to share a little bit of the blame with the other drivers, hopefully she was insured and not dodgy, just ashamed.

The camera never lies though does it! (well, excluding Derren Brown stuff anyway)

The worst thing is, out of all the people who saw it, including another cyclist and other car drivers. No one else stopped. Not even a quick "are you okay?". If I hadn't stopped I'm willing to bet no one else would have.

The way of the World, I'm afraid.

A couple of years back a lad on a motorbike drove into the back of my (stationary) car. God knows how - was stopped at the back of the queue for quite a while, and he would have seen me from the end of the long, straight road. Anyhoo - he drove at speed into the back of me. He was actually fine, but visibly shaken up.

This was leaving time at the local college, so lots of foot and vehicular traffic. Did any of them stop? Anyone offer to call an ambulance or check he was OK? Anyone even offer to be a witness?

Nope. Not a sausage.

Yep. If someone went in the back of me and started fussing like that I'd be fuming. As for insurance, I really hope so and I really hope she doesn't drag out any claim by telling lies on the forms. However, if she wasn't insured and just tried to get away with it (she said she was going abroad today) wouldn't really surprise me. Hopefully, as the police were called it should stop anything like that happening.

Actually...bugger being a good Samaritan. I got to work 15 minutes late so had to work longer...she owes me a few quid!!!!And whiplash from me straining my neck so much to get it on film .

I think you're totally awesome for stopping and offering your details. That's top props to you for being a decent human being.

*loud round of applause*

+1 Thomas - as you said, most other people didn't even stop to ask

Video 1 of 3 is encoding. You can have two full versions, slightly edited and then the final one with lots of slow motion copies of the crunch.

Will post links later...or tomorrow. They will no doubt take forever to upload.

It's hard to see how, there's only two ways a driver can hit the back of another car - by driving too close or not paying attention.

I have a really fast connection, why don't you email them to me and I will upload them in half the time ;):surrender:

haha...WELL, I left them uploading and they had some blooming error. It says it'll take an hour and a half so I'm going to wait for tomorrow for the long versions...however, in the meanwhile, I have got this, a shorter video just with the slow mos and things

If she starts saying that the car in front stopped, sharply and unnecessarily the insurance company may want to confirm this which will obviously add time to it - even though they will still, inevitably have to pay up.

NOW, for the moment you've all been waiting for....

(I think YouTube is still processing it...I will upload a longer length video tomorrow to show everything which happened).
