Helmet saved my life!

I am living proof that helmets do work.

Riding home in the pitch black at around 1:00 this morning through the lanes I suddenly get side-swiped by, wait for it.....

a bat!

I spied it caught in the beam of my Magicshine ahead after which it tuned 90 degrees and proceeded to fly above and to the right of me for a short distance at around 16 mph. It then decided to perform the flying equivalent of a motorist changing lanes without looking and smacked straight into my helmet.

I am sure that if I hadn't been wearing it I'd not be here to write about this event ^_^

Now since I have been involved in this unfortunate accident should I go looking for a replacement helmet? I mean it could been badly damaged in the collision, being rendered unsafe by the immense force of the bat's wings striking the shell.

I might also add that the party at fault (bat) failed to stop at the scene and flew off into the darkness = hit and run. Didn't get the reg plate so I can't report it.

Its the ultrasonic waves that will cause the most serious damage. Can't be seen, but your helmet will probably disintegrate soon into a pile of polystyrene chips.
