Hi, I'm looking for a pre 1987 road bike which I could use for L'Eroica Britannia ( http://www.eroicabritannia.co.uk/ ).

I've spotted a Viking on eBay somewhere I could easily collect from, to me it looks fairly 80's but if anyone happens to recognise it and could let me know when it was likely made I'd appreciate it...

It has the same head badge as this 1982 Viking Goldstar ( http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/141191381118 ) but that's as close as I've been able to get to dating it. This more modern head badge isn't featured on the vintage Viking cycles website ( http://classicvikingcycles.com/head-badges/ ).

Any help ageing this Viking would be appreciated or if you've spotted any good & affordable pre-1987 road bikes in Derbyshire/Staffordshire for sale Iet me know

I'm currently waiting for the seller to get back to me with a frame size, fingers-crossed.

It's hard to tell the exact age without being able to visually check date codes on things like brake handles or rear derallieurs. Send me a pm with what your looking for as I travel down to my parents in South Derbyshire so I could potentially drop off on route sometime which means you could expand your search a little wider.

My guess it would be at least a 24" frame

Good guess, the sellers replied saying its 64cm (centre to centre). Far to big for me.

@biggs682 I was thinking of picking up something in need of some TLC which I could stamp my own style on as I restored it. However that said the Ian May cycle in your cover photo looks fantastic. Please PM me with how much your looking to get for it.
