Yes. Clear some cupboard space next to the foot spa, juice maker and George Foreman grill so you can put the thing away she gets bored with it.

Ahem, and what's wrong with a George Foreman grill?

Granted it might be a flash in the pan for some people, but it's actually quite good for chicken breasts etc.

Years ago I bought my wife a Krups machine, a good coffee machine was the only thing she really wanted. Worked well for about two years then died. Couldn't find somewhere local to fix it.

Maybe four years ago I bought her one of these:

It cost about a third of the cost of the Krups one and the coffee is just as good, plus the machine does more. I paid less than this:

I've got a Krups which does 'normal' filter coffee, and a Krups for espresso, and has the steam nozzle for hot milk/frothing. They're old now, but still going strong and make great coffee. Also got cafetieres of various sizes for good coffee by that method.

Another vote for the Bialetti, i own 2 sizes. Easy to clean and take up minimal space, hence they are very popular in Italy.

Mrs George does the microwave thing with lots of milk ....... i don't .

if you are getting a machine to make espresso, make sure it has 15bar pressure.
Errr... wrong.

9 bar is generally recommended for the best espresso. 15 is well excessive and if you pull an espresso at that kind of pressure you're going to get something that's far from the best flavour, aroma etc that you should be getting from your berries. Then again, if you're using it to push water through pre-ground coffee then flavour and aroma doesn't really matter that much...

The reason I would also avoid Nespresso and the like is the proprietary capsules they take, only made by Nestle or under license - expensive and if they ever stop making them or you don't like the coffees on offer then you're stuck with a useless machine.

Another reason to avoid a Nespresso is the fact that you can only mail order the capsules and they charge about £7 for delivery!!
