Hi, I am looking for a comfortable (more upright than race position) and fast feel bike (I know, pedal faster to move faster) that is good for road use and fairly smooth gravel tracks, I have been looking at gravel bikes and in particular Dolan GX1 (105) and the Rose Backroad (105), with a budget up to £2000, please let me know what you think about these bikes and other options you feel are worth considering and why? Cheers

I bought a Sabbath AR1 Ti, gorgeous bike. 105 hydraulics is around £2200

A road bike should cope with 'fairly smooth gravel tracks' but if you're after a new bike its always worth throwing some leg over to see if you like it. That rules out Rose but if you can get to Ormskirk or any other specialists that offer this type of bike it may be beneficial.
You may be able to tinker with your existing bike to get a more upright position.

Odd I found this thread. The backroad 105 looks sexy as hell, I am wondering if its what I need to get the mojo back!!

I would avoid Ti, the amount of cracked frames I have seen is unreal.

I'm off to the bike show to look at that Rose. Looks great in blue but they tell me they are bringing the cream one across. Bit of a Rose fan so it's worth the trip and I've never been to the bike show.

I have done thousands of miles on 5 TI frames, I have cracked one which was a very thin walled double butted frame, that may have being cracked for a while before I noticed, it was welded by a mate and I rode it on fixed for a while then sold it to someone who put it back on gears, I think its still going strong.
The On One Pickenflick has had some serious abuse but its not suffered.
I do know of one club mate who has cracked a Ti, but I also know of carbon frame cracks, aluminium frame cracks and steel frame cracks.
You pay your money and take your chances.
