If he can, and wants to, why not?
Im not saying he cant, just stating a fact that the frameset is big money

No other assumptions or accusations made.

I agree the Genesis is expensive - £3k for a full bike.
I'll have to ponder it to see if it's worth it, bearing in mind I could build one myself from a different frame for at least a grand less.

I'm thinking of something similar, so this thread is of interest to me.

A couple of bikes I've looked have titanium frames.

Without wishing to derail the thread too far, could someone briefly explain the benefits of titanium?

It will last for ever.
It's stronger than steel, with a similar comfy "springy" rider, but lighter, and doesn't corrode.
It looks cool.

Thanks Ben.

My experience in this area is very limited, but I've grasped that alloy can be harsh and zingy, whereas steel is much more compliant and nicer to ride, but heavy.

Titanium, combining reasonable weight and compliance, sounds good.

^^^^ what he said

its a very smooth, comfortable ride, seems to float over bumpy roads and if built up by yourself can be very rewarding indeed

So yeah, tempting as the Genesis is, I reckon I could do a custom build for £1k less.
