Help me get my photos on here

So I took photos on my phone. Then despite connecting the cable the computer doesn't seem to want to recognise its there.
Finding a way round this I uploaded them to facebook and downloaded them back to the laptop.
They are there now, I can see them. But I can't get them into a file so that I can upload that file back to here.
What am I doing wrong??
Please don't make me ask Mr6.

what happens when you go to my computer/computer... do you see your phone lisyed there?
PS - I'll disppear in a few mins to collect my OH from the railway station, so this is pre-empting what others may ask and I am assuming you are on a windows based machine - let us know if you are not (so microsoft, not apple operating system)

Edit: if you can see the phone in my computer, then either right click it and select import or double click it and go rummaging through the files...

It's an android phone, but the "media device" button that you should click to see what's on it doesn't work it says there's nothing there.
The laptop is lynux, not windows - does that make a difference?
Last time Mr6 did it for me but he gets really cross when I don't know what I'm doing, then I get really cross back and it's too hot for a row.

forget using the laptop ,open a photobucket acc and when u take pics on phone u can upload them direct to photobucket from ur phone ,when u post here just copy the url and paste it in your post ,some magic happens and your pic appears in yr post ,no comps involved wether linux or windows

Ah, I have a photobucket account. How do I get the photos from my phone to there if the computer refuses to recognise it's connected though?

you dont need to use the comp at all ,theirs a photobucket app on ur phone ,i NEVER have to load pics to a site using the comp ,,i take it u can acess cc on yr phone

Does your outer have an SD card reader? Your phone should have a microSD card inserted somewhere so you can do a physical swap.

Start your post, then when you want to add the file, go bottom right of your post, where it says 'upload a file'. Click that, should take you to window showing stuff on your pc. Locate your file, click on it, click 'open' at bottom right. Pic will insert. You should get the choice to insert it as a thumbnail or as a full image. Make that choice, and Bob's yer uncle.

The problem I'm having is it won't find the file. I can physically see the pic on the screen, so I know it's there, but I can't locate the file.

Does your phone and computer have bluetooth connection?
If so, use that to transfer pics from one to the other.

Drop box is good on android and syncs with PC 5gb free is enough for most peoples photos. I use it to export/import gpx files too. Also an app called airdroid which wirelessly connects phone and laptop if on same WiFi network.


Edit. Also works on most Linux distros

Yup use Dropbox and turn on the auto-sync for pictures that way it will sync any new pics automatically, then if you install Dropbox on your PC you will be able to get at them from there as well.

I was going to have a fiddle with the phone just now but Mr6 wanted to know what I was up to, but I could see he was itching to take over so I said "nothing dear"
