I am looking to fit 1st generation Dura Ace shifters to a bike. The current down tube braze-ons are Campagnolo and I am lead to believe that the Dura Ace levers will not fit.

However, a thread on a US forum suggest that if you take apart a pair of band on levers these will fit the Campagnolo Braze-ons. Does anyone know if this is the case?

many thanks

First gen should fit. A few years later Shimano tried to set a new standard in downtube shifter boss size..... That never took off lol

All first gen Dura Ace levers (black and silver) came as band on out of the factory.

I'm going back 44 odd years but can't remember if the square backing plate for the campag levers is needed.....

So long as they aren't 7400 series. That's only compatible with 7400 series mechs, unless you switch to friction.

<< 7400 looks like my avatar - a blue/grey colour.
