Part posted on an other section so please forgive me if ive posted in wrong place.
ive acquired this retro Peugeot bike that although works is feeling abit sorry for its self.
Im reasonably handy with bikes and stuff in general, so im going to strip the old girl down and replace the saddle and bar tape.
can somebody advise me on what tools ill need to remove the cranks and bottom bracket and also wheel hubs. not something ive done on my other bikes. everything else I all ready have.
Also the wheels seem ok but have been painted in some horrible black paint! can this be stripped with paint stripper?
Wanting to keep spends low as its not worth anything and im doing it for myself not to make money.

Nice wallpaper.

You'll need a square taper crank extractor, like this.
And a C spanner like this to undo the lock ring on the bottom bracket, maybe like this, but I'd double check the spacing of the indentations in the lock ring before clicking buy.
Read Sheldon Brown's words of wisdom about removing stuck bottom bracket cups here.
Plus Gas and patience are your friends.

I'd turn it into a fixed wheel if I was doing it. Junk the mechs and gear levers. Junk the horrible suicide levers. Unscrew (after much grunting) the 6 speed freewheel and replace with a fixed sprocket. Play around with bottom brackets until the chain line is right. Rattle can spray job.
