selling this on behalf of a neighbour, he and I know next to nothing about these things, apart from that they're expensive

i was hoping you guys could tell me more about it in terms of worth as i said, we're not very knowledgeable in this area, but basically he wants to sell it

note: contrary to the pictures, it does come with a seat

he's a removals man so i assumed thats how he acquired this

please let me know any details you'd like me to check and possibly where abouts this info would be found on the bike

having seen it, i can say it is in mint condition, looks hardly used

not sure if these make sense but these are some things i jotted down from looking at it
avant de rosa, ultracarbon, q5 veloce brakes, 10 speed, leo, campagnolo veloce

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
"removals man" .... what's the word? - ah yes, euphemism ?? I would certainly want a very detailed and comprehensive history before buying.

Not much call for them De Rosas, eytalian int they?, bound to fall apart in 5 minutes; I mean look at Fiats......

Now look, I'm cutting my own throat here, but you're new, and I like you. I'll tell you what, I'll give you 160 quid for it, I've got the cash, and you wont get a better offer than that round here.

Sounds a bit dodgy to me, I wouldnt implicate myself with the sale of that bike if I were you (since no-one seems to know where it has come from).

Well we do indeed have some clowns on here, i genuinely am posting this here for my neighbour as he is somewhat illiterate with computers and because i have a trek 1.5 triple, he thinks I'm educated on road bikes, he's a middle aged man with a family so i don't think he went out at night and stole this, that being said, i can't of course guarantee where it has come from, if anybody needs further clarification they are more than welcome to take that up with him, of course this is only if you're actually interested in buying it seriously for a serious price and not just there to make poor jokes

youngoldbloke, thank you for the link

Sorry - its partially your lack of history on here ... if it was someone with 100 + posts they have started to develop an on-line personality (whether its a true reflection of their real self), but there have been previous occasions when the only post someone makes on here is how to identify and how much for that bike and they have looked very suspicious.

Surely if he wants rid of it - he just puts it on E-bay and sees what someone is prepared to pay for it.

be serious, a £2k plus bike just going begging, it's nicked, or an insurance job, however your neighbour came about it. It may have been left behind somewhere but I can't see anyone who bought one legit just giving it away. Correct process would be to report details to police and see if it can be reunited with owner. If not claimed after certain period then it becomes your neighbours property. If you've got a Trek 1.5 then you know enough about bikes to be able to do your own internet search on prices.

You've been treated lightly here, other forums would have given you a much harder time over your post. If you can't recognise why then maybe you need to familiarise yourself with bike crime, via reading on the net, a bit more.
