The plan is: get a bit fitter, commute to work 10 miles a couple of times a week occasional longer leisure ride and if that works I've challenged a friend I'll do ventoux with him.....might need an upgrade or two for that though
Cool - double check whether you need panniers for the commuting.

Don't forget you'll need to buy pedals, cycling shoes, gloves, spare tubes, puncture kit, pumps, locks, mudguards, etc which can add up quickly.
