Help removing QR front wheel with a Lowrider pannier rack

I've found it really handy to be able to drop my bike's front wheel (Mk1 Thorn Club Tour) to put the bike in the car using the QR. However, I have a lowrider front pannier rack I thought it would be good to fit for camping trips away, only one night away camping so far, but enjoyed it. The trouble is that with the rack fitted I couldn't work out how to drop the front wheel, I guess there's a technique, but I couldn't manage it. I ended up removing the rack to drop the front wheel, which is fine on occasion, but not something additional I'd want to do if having to sort out a puncture.

Any advice? It's an ancient Bor-Yeuh lowrider, for my equally ancient bike Sorry for got to take a photo and bike now with LBS

Swap out the low-rider rack for a ‘pizza tray’ rack?

Just spring the lower part of the rack apart to let the wheel drop out, no problem.
