On my Trek SU200 (rigid MTB) I have a bulge in my seat tube - at the seat tube/top tube intersection. It's not noticeable to the eye but if I run my fingers down the seat tube I can feel it.
At first I thought this was due to running the seatpost a couple of millimetres outside the minimum insertion mark. But, I checked my brother's Trek 4500 (same frame but hardtail) and there is also a bulge on his though he doesn't run the seatpost anywhere near its maximum limit.
Both bikes are aluminium. I'm now running a longer seatpost and it's well within it's limit.
Do other Trek MTB owners have this bulge on their seat tube? I'm hoping the bulge on mine is just the butting and not damage from running the seatpost too short.
Many thanks
