Anyone help with this, the bike is a GT mtb with Hayes sole machanical brakes.
I thought the pads needed replacing as the brakes were not great and the back brake handle would be nearly touching the handlebar before it bit, not a lot of tent ion on that handle at all, changed the pads but still the same, I can see how to alter the pad distance but not how to adjust the cable tension as there is no wire coming from the brake block to tighten, there is a little screw on top with a plastic cap cover no idea what that is for? So any help in adjusting these brakes would be good.
