If you do go for a test ride make sure the tyre are pumped up to the full 90 100 psi.

A friend of mine chose a trek 1.5 over an allez because on the (2 minute round a car park) test ride it felt a lot smoother. Turns out the allez tyres were at full pressure and the trek about 60psi making it feel artificially smoother.

Due to that he ended up being a trekkie instead of being specialized.

A decision that he rues to this day.

Maybe.

It would be a Defy 3 for me (black and white version). Though I should add that I have a Defy so I'm biased and I know nothing really of the other options..

I think you should ride them and buy the one which suits.

Votes will essentially be for what people own/have owned/most similar to what they own, as very few will have ridden each of them to make an informed decision, surely? :P

I own a Triban 5A, obviously that's the one to go for ;)

Actually more usefully, I've heard that 2300 shifters are hard to use from the drops unless you have pretty big hands? Might be worth considering as some of your options have 2300 and some Sora (of which the new version has both down and up shift on the brake levers).

I do not have that option here not many bike shops supply those brands unfortunately. Thank you anyway.
bruith, are you near Belfast? McConvey Cycles on the Ormeau Rd have Defy 3's and Allez in stock. You could try them out for size/comfort etc.

I was hopeing people would take a look at the specs and decide that way.
