So I just received a demand from Hermes for over £10 becasue the parcel I sent is apparently too large. I don't think it is.

Herpes always caused me problems whenever my parcel came in any sort of contact with them.
Don't think or know it is not, we have never had a problem with Hermes, or any other courier apart from Parcel Force.

did you check its size and weight on the latest rates before sending ?
i got caught once when i said something weighed under 2 kg but they claimed it was over 2kg cost an extra £4 which was more than the original cost in them days , so i always go up on weight now to avoid the extra charges

Hermes always worked for me (even when I knew my parcel was a tad larger than it should have been). You got caught in the random check maybe?

Have used DPD to have a parcel collected from house and delivered to Germany. All went very smoothly.
A local Hermes driver didn't even get out of the car as he wung our parcel towards the front door and drove off. But yes, we've had them tipped over the back gate too. Hallions.

I can say with absolute certainty that I would never be in a position where I had to write that I 'thought' this or that. When I send something I make damn sure I play by their rules, knowing that companies like these, with their wafer-thin margins, make a point of exploiting the small print ruthlessly, given half a chance. If I weigh something and it's 2,084 grams, I put it down as 3kg, because I know the marginal cost of another Kg is probably 49p, whereas the fine for breaking the rules is probably a tenner.

I didn't measure the parcel but they claim it was 146cm in length (max allowed is 120cm) - I just got the tape measure out and my estimate is 60cm, some way short of 146cm - figure that out?
