Hey everyone

Just thought that I'd drop a quick post in here as i signed up last night and have been reading the site a fair bit over the last 24hrs.

Anyway, a bit about myself, I'm Daz, 24, an overweight fatty that carnt bike very far (at the moment) and I live near York.

Works organising a 100mile trip from Edinburgh to Ireland next year and I hope that I might be able to make it, who knows, just picking up a crap bike and going for a quick spin has made me realise that the full susp saracen maxx traxx is just not up to being good on the road?? bouncing about all over.

This is not my bike, the one i'm using is far rustier and well, just not very well maintained.

I've been looking at new bikes online and I like the look of the following:

http://www.evanscycl...d-bike-ec026606
http://www.evanscycl...d-bike-ec027463
http://www.evanscycl...d-bike-ec020195

I like the look of the mongoose bike the best, also that it has front susp with lockout so if I decide to do a little off road riding I can unlock the susp??? and it will be a little less bumpy than the other 2.
I also like the look of disc brakes better than standard brakes so I would prefer to have discs also.

I'm 5' 7" tall and have about £350 to spend on a bike, is there any others that you could recommend with all the above features (disc brakes, front susp with lockout) that are in my price range?

Thanks in advance

Daz.

Hi Daz, I'm new too so wouldn't like to give naff advice about getting a bike, but think your giving yourself plenty of time to get in shape for the works trips next year.
Have fun and enjoy your rides

Just thought I'd bring this back up 2 years later

Just got a new purchase: Planet X pro carbon

Swapped out the saddle for a toupe expert and also put on some gator skins. Now just need to have my bike fit that's booked in for beginning April and I'm good to go!

Hi Raz, I'm looking at a Hybrid too, I went into Evans cycles at the weekend at test rode 3 bikes. I'm looking at a Pinnacle Cabolt Two hybrid disc or a Specialized Crosstrail Disc. I asked about a Mongoose and was told they couldn't get them. Even though they are on the website. But I would recommend going in and having a test ride, as seeing a pick is not as look as looking in the flesh and riding. Oops that was bit late
