Hi everyone, entered the world of road biking 3 weeks ago after buying a Carrera tdf on offer from Halfords, since then done the customary Gatorskin upgrade and just fitted spds, both have transformed the bike into what i think is a great machine, and nicely suited to my 15 miles a day commute to work, looking forward to learning from this community and hopefully when funds allow will be upgrading to a boardman/carbon bike after winter : ), the bug has hit me hard!
Also been quietly into MTB's casually and also own a 2010 Carrera Banshee unmolested which the wife has adopted!

Hi and thanks for the welcomes. Saluki, how did you/your husband find the upgrade from Carrera to the Boardman?

Just in time to get a Winter bike sorted - you don't want your nice shiny Tdf to get eaten by the salt now.

Welcome aboard BIB.

Hi and thanks for the welcomes. Saluki, how did you/your husband find the upgrade from Carrera to the Boardman?
I use a virtuoso for commuting and have a boardman road comp with sram apex , the boardman is about 7-8 kg lighter as i run the commuter with rack, panniers and guards so i feel like i accelerate quicker, its easier to hold the speed and hills turn into fun .
Comparing the two unladen the weight is still around 3 kg so the performance is not as big as you might expect but the boardman does not beat you up so much on longer rides due to the carbon fork and a bit less effort to hold your speed.

Hi and :welcome:
Just got a Carrera 'Vanquish'
I've ridden lighter bikes with better component specs over the years but the Carrera is most satisfactory. Will be upgrading components over time however.
Enjoy your cycling:hello:
