Hi all,

This is my first post on here. It seems a really nice and friendly site with loads of good advice on offer. I suppose you would say i am a bit of "born again" cyclist.
With the big 40 approaching i decided it was time to get back on a bike, try to get a bit fitter and shed some weight. I hadn't seriously ridden since the early 90s when i used to do lots of road riding and a few TTs now and then (wearing my vittoria glasses on my Elswick).
So, six months after getting back in the saddle i have lost over two stone (yay), i am the (very) proud owner of a Boardman hybrid, i have steadily increased my trip distances and I am loving it. Now the bad news. I have realised that everyone was right........I wasnt too old for a road bike. I am now on the hunt for a respectable (L-XL) S/H road bike with around £350 burning a hole in my pocket. I have looked but cannot seem to find a classified section on this site. is there one or have i missed something?

Hi @152l2 and :welcome:.

Sounds like you've made a really good return to cycling. Keep it up.

There is a classifieds section on here but you can't access it until you've made a minimum number of posts (think it's ten). This is a measure to keep the spammers out. So, come in, join the fun and get that post count up.^_^

Hi Rickshaw Phil,:hello:
Thanks for the welcome. I think i have fallen in love with cycling again.
Ah, that explains it. I still couldnt see any for sale ads. I even looked in Commuting in case it was a typo. ^_^
So, thats two posts down and eight to go.

Hi Bryony,:hello:
Thank you for the welcome. I was Thinking of a Triban 3 and have just discovered the T3 owners section on the forums. Only 98 pages to go. :hyper:

The Triban 3 is indeed extremely popular on here.

What you need to know if you're still going through the thread is that the white 2013 Triban 3 is a lower spec model (no carbon fibre forks & a cheaper drivetrain) than the red 2012 version that everyone loved. It's apparently still a decent bike, but isn't streets ahead of everything else in that price bracket like the old one was.

If your budget is stretchable, the current Triban 5 has the frame & forks of the old 3 and the next spec up of drivetrain.

Ah, thank you. I didn't know that. That makes everything a lot clearer now. I was trying to work out what the differences were. Unfortunately the budget will not stretch to a 5. Maybe i will look out for a S/H 5 or red 3 then.
thank you Phil.

Hi Bryony,
I really like the look of the Forme bikes. I was thinking of getting one when i bought my hybird, but was put off a little as i had never heard of them back then. How do you like it?

I love mine  they are a new company started in 2010 I think. My bike handles very well and feels very comfortable. The wheels, gears etc are fairly basic on mine but it is the cheaper one of the range I'd definitely recommend it as a starter bike ^_^
