Hi,

I'm Reiki_chick and I found this site via google whilst searching for info on rear derailleur hassles.
I'm going on a mtb holiday at the end of next week, and in the process of learning how to pack my Giant Arete 2 into a bike bag I seem to have messed up the rear derailleur quite spectacularly. Gutted.

Anyway, this site looks good. Looks a lot better than the state of my bike ;o)

Hi lukesdad,

Yes, I did! And I won't be doing it again. What a world of confusion.
By the fact that you could guess that straight off, I'm reckoning on it being a standard newbie error.
It's hard being a beginner at things. Difficult not to feel like an IDIOT!!!

Anyway, I've just been to my LBS and with a twist of an allen key they've sorted me out. Seems like I'd not done too badly at untangling the mess, but I'd tried to replace the derailleur with the pin the wrong side of the bump.

Lesson learned.

Thanks for the waving welcome,

Rc

Welcome and some of us still make mistakes and are still learning several years down the road... are you going somewhere nice that you need a bike bag?

Hi summerdays,

Kind words - thanks!

I'm going to Sardinia for a coast to coast trip (with Saddle Skedaddle).
6 days biking over a mixture of terrain. Can't wait.

I've heard of them before but didn't realise they did holidays abroad before ... I would certainly be interested in hearing how it went on your return ... with pictures of sunshine too!

Welcome to the mad house RC

Well you now know being a newbie, also going on a cycling holiday that we require Photos of said cycling week, along with a full written report, but failing that .... Have a great time

I did a trip to Baja California with Saddle Skedaddle. Outstanding! It set me on a path of losing tons of weight, getting properly back into cycling and then into triathlon. You should have a super time!
