hello gang!

I thought I would finally join up to the forum after several months lurking in the shadows.

I come from blyth in Northumberland and have slowly warmed to the idea of cycling after been offered a chance to cycle the coast to coast this year!

This is the first time I have joined a forum so please be nice:smile:

Thanks, I think I'm going to need it to be fair. Found out today I have under 12 weeks until the ride

Hi and welcome

12 weeks should be enough time to train to make the C2C, and is slightly longer than some of my group have left to train for the Hadrians Cycleway (9 weeks and one hasn't touched a bike yet)

The distances seem massive, but if you get out and ride you will quite quickly find it easier to cover larger distances. I'm not saying you'll fly along with ease like a racer, but you should be able to make it. The secret will be to get riding, get to know your bike and remember it's not a race, enjoy yourself.

Good luck

Thanks for all the warm welcome, just goes to show what an excellent community this is

Mcshroom - you have filled me with confidence knowing that the ride I face is very achievable. I just need to stop making excuses now and get on my bike.

Hey gerry

The steamboat closed down last year, rumor has it some American business man bought the building to convert to offices.
Sadly most of Blyth has gone down hill recently

Hello Wooly,

I've just seen your message. I'm in Blyth too - South Beach.

Who are you doing C2C with? What sort of bike have you got?

C2C is too scary for me:smile: but I did the Great North Bike Ride last year.

Haven't been out much this year but hope to be back on the bike now that the weather is better.

Enjoy your cycling - perhaps we'll bump into each other someday.

Anne
