Hi guys,
Picking up my new (to me) Trek 1.2 next week.
Returning to this sport after a 25 yearish break, god that makes me feel very old.
I have plenty of questions so hopefully I've found a forum that can help me.
Going to use the bike as a weight loss machine as well, due to the weight creeping up on me over the last few years, approx 17 stone at the moment.
Hopefully mechanically attaching my feet to a bike won't break any YouTube viewing records.
Thanks for reading,
Neil.

Hi and :welcome: Neil.

Yes, this is a great place for advice so feel free to ask. There is also a useful search function if you want to see what's been said before on a subject.

Hi and welcome. You may think lincolnshire is flat until you ride a bike around it, then your views might change. Not sure where you are but the Wolds make some lumpy riding, also those on the Lincoln supportive tomorrow may not share your views as they tackle the cobbles up steep hill in the city.
Do not forget the Lincoln Gp is this Sunday and worth seeing.

I hope we meet on the road one day.

One more :welcome: from Scotland!
We have hills, we have rain, we have wind, we cycle nonetheless

Thanks for the welcome everyone.
Hi Screenman I'm in a little village called Saxilby and yes I understand that all of Lincolnshire isn't flat, especially after a gentle 10 mile ride yesterday on my Carrera MTB to Stow.
Just realised as well that I hate the wind lol
Any ideas of good cycling clubs in the area?
Thanks, Neil.

Hi Neil, and welcome. When I were a lad in Lincoln, the Velo club was prominent, and they're still going strong after all those decades.

When you want to widen your riding, you'll find that one of the many benefits of living in Saxilby is that the Dunham toll bridge over the Trent is free to cyclists.
So satisfying that you may want to cross and recross several times a day. ^_^

Hi Neil and welcome to CC.
Lincs isnt flat, well not as flat as some make it out to be, Me and my missus ride aall over Lincs when we can and get some cracking rides in, it issssssssssssss pretty flat around our area but if we venture further south from Scunny the roads can get a bit demanding, if you ever venture north, give us a shout and we could meet up for a few miles:thumbsup:

Neil, have you been out to Barrons yet, now that is a proper old bike shop. Have a ride out to Newton tonight and you will meet the Wheelers doing thier two up there, starts at 7pm.

I am the other side of town in Bardney, however Saxibly was the starting point of our weekly 10s back when I was racing. Where has Popham the bakers gone? last time I popped into the Co-Op for a flap jack they were no longer.

Danger, have you been down to Barrons?
