Hi All,

Like a lot of you, I have decided to get back into cycling having bought my Wife and Daughter new bikes a few weeks ago, I thought I should do something as well.

I have a couple of mountain bikes that have not been used for a while and having spoke to my bro who is a serious biker I managed to pick up a bit of bargain. Guy bought this bike 2 years ago, tried it once round the block then put it in the garage. Just in case it means something to you here are the specs:

  • Frame: Lightweight carbon MTB race/trail chassis
  • Fork: Rockshox Reba Race 100mm travel with remote lockout and pop-lock
  • Chainset: FSA V-drive Mega EXO 22t/32t/44t
  • Bottom Bracket: FSA Moto Mega EXO sealed catridge outboard bearings
  • Front Derailleur: SRAM X-9
  • Rear Derailleur: SRAM X-0
  • Pedals: Alloy platform
  • Shifters: SRAM X-0 Trigger
  • Cassette: Sram PG-980 Powerglide II 9speed 11-34t
  • Chain: Sram PC-971
  • Rims: Mavic Crosstrail Disc UST wheelset
  • Hubs: Mavic Crosstrail Disc UST wheelset
  • Tyres: Continental Mountain King 2.2" UST
  • Brakes: Quad Stinger Pro hydraulic disc brakes with 160mm rotors
  • Levers: Quad Stinger Pro
  • Handlebar: Ritchey PRO Rizer 670mm width, 20mm rise, 31.8mm OS
  • Headset: FSA Orbit IS2 Integrated
  • Stem: Ritchey PRO 4-Axis stem 31.8mm OS - 16"=90mm, 18"=100mm, 20"=110mm
  • Saddle: Oultand El Ray MTB with cromo rails
  • Seat Post: Ritchey PRO 27.2mm x 350mm
  • Size: 18"Frame
It is a Raleigh Mtrax 5.0 Carbon. I only bought it as my bro said riding a carbon bike was a completely different experience! So far I agree!

I have my own company and a few years ago had a shower built which I am using this week for the first time! It is only 5 miles each way, but I am enjoying it. On road most of the way at the moment, but may go over to the Army's tank tracks when I feel a bit fitter!

Having just found 'Strava' on this site, I am looking forward to seeing my improvement.

In my youth I was a serious sportsperson and represented the RAF at boxing, swimming, water polo and athletics. Even being picked - but did not go - for the olympic boxing team. But that was a very long time ago. Seriously unfit at the moment and trying to do something about it!

Looking forward to going over the site and learning more!

Best regards

Chris
PS I only used my handle G2EWS as a lot of people know me by that on other forums! - It is the registration of my RV!
