Great, thanks. I'm now out of cycling action until after August Bank holiday. If you ride before this have fun, and I'll jump on the next one.More than welcome, i think we have not got as far as a date yet?
A group ride is a group ride, we go at the pace everyone can do and enjoy so do not worry about it too much, also when in a group you can get a bit of a draft like race cars etc so its a bit easier.Hi guys, just a little update to let you know my level of ability atm, i went for my 2nd ride today, and completed around 8 miles, i cycled around the Swadlincote Conkers blue course, Albert Village lake and the Donisthorpe canal track. Not sure if any of you have ridden there but its nice, a combination of probably 80% gravel track, 10% tarmac & 10% woodland track
i had to stop a couple of times just for a break (and once because of numb wrists) and also had to get off and walk a couple of the steeper hills, but all in all it was alot of fun. I was out probably about 2 hours and returned home knackered lol.
Anyway i'll keep going, keep getting better and look forward going for a ride with you guys once i'm up to par.![]()
just out of interest what sort of bike do you have?
Nowt wrong with that , i just got a subway on Cycle to Work just for winter commuting and riding with the kids, could be ideal for the group ride as well ..Its a mountain bike, Carrera Kraken. I wanted something sturdy that would take my weight and a bike that i could take advantage of all the traffic free cycling tracks around this area. I felt abit underconfident at road cycling so wanted to get back into things without the worry of traffic, hence the MTB.

I'd also recommend signing up to mycyclinglog and joining the Cyclechat group. I find that good inspiration, especially when I remember to log my rides!
