Hi everyone,

I'm 20 years old from Essex and am currently in the process of getting into road cycling. I've always loved bike riding but never taken it to seriously until recently.

Basically over the christmas period one of my friends from school passed away following a long battle with cancer and a group of us are doing a bike ride from Paris up through Belgium and Holland before heading back to Colchester to support the foundation set up in his name.

I, however, have very limited knowledge about cycling equipment and hope to learn from the experience all of you will have about the physical and mechanical side of cycling

Cheers and all the best.

Hi and welcome.

You will find plenty of support here.

All the best with your ride.:surrender:

Hi Dogg and :welcome:.

Like everyone else I'm sorry to hear about your friend. I hope the ride will go well. How long do you have to train for it and how many days are you planning to take to do it?

There's a load of helpful people on here so feel free to ask if there's any advice you need.

That's fine - gives time to get plenty of training in. My suggestion would be to start off with frequent rides at a distance you are comfortable with and to increase the distance from time to time. You'll build up the mileage quite easily.
