Hiya from up the road. I worked for a bit in Chelmsford and the furthest I got to from there was Clacton on Sea and some village north of Stansted, but didn't go south much, iirc Hanningfield was a good turning point

Not tried 'Old Church Hill' yet, looking down the hill was enough when i drove by it the other day
I have enough trouble getting up to Staneway via Berry Lane and High rd, I need to stop a couple of times (breathless)
due to getting on in life and not being in the best of health. I will attempt it soon though and thanks for the suggestions.

Just attempted Old Church Hill, Managed to get just over half way up then it was a mixture get off and push and ride a little for me, The friend i was with found it a little easier though. but it was good fun attempting it, thanks for the heads up.
At the top we met another cyclist just starting to go down, he suggested it's a lot easier going the his way

I'm the other side of one tree hill. It's very flat that side . I tend to cycle towards Grays, Orsett and sometimes Horndon on the hill. When I was a little fitter last year, I used to occasionally cycle over one tree hill, up dry street and down into Langdon Hills.

Funny enough i have friends over that way, but I've never taken notice of the area flatness, mind you, the last time we visited them... I didn't ride bikes..... I just let a thing called an engine do all the work
