Hi,
I'm 14, and have decided to start doing a lot more cycling. I have a road bike I managed to pick up (a Peugeot Carbolite or something) and have some good hills around me. I got a Road Bike as I was fed up of being overtaken on downhills by my dad. Hoping I can learn a bit from being here.

Plenty of friendly folks around here, so don't hesitate to ask around.

We also do occasional group rides catering to riders of every ability - the next one is in Perth in early August.

Don't worry so much about the descent, just make sure you beat your dad on the uphill bits

As has been said above, we've got a lovely ride from Perth in the planning and we would love you to (bring your Dad and) come along with us. It's a nice gentle ride, which a certain young (I believe he was also 14 at the time ) new member of CC came to, with a bike that ... well, let's just say it wasn't quite 'properly sorted' but he managed to get round - despite not having had any breakfast either - and has kept coming back.

So we must be doing something right ...

Hi from Glasgow Southside As Rasmus says, don't worry on the downhills, work on the ups...........and remember to respect your father and it's not necessary to beat him every time, even if you can!!!! (Something my son didn't learn)

Yeah on the mountain bike he sped past me even though the thing weighed a ton. Probably due to thick, knobbly tires and full suspension. With my (old)new bike I just draft behind him till the last mile where I speed past him.
