I've worked nights and worked for Royal Mail, 4am starts. Lately it's been part of the job, mate. People don't like you waking them up before 8-8:30am, else I'd start earlier and finish earlier and miss the traffic, too

Do people not have letter boxes on your patch then?

Living in Stornoway we don't get post until lunch time at the earliest - cushy number for the postie.

I was a milkman for a long time , 1-2 am starts 6 days a week, i dont miss it

Stone to Uttoxeter via Milwich and Bramshall used to be one of my favourite rides

It is a lovely, great ride...just not pre 8am and before a 10 hour day at work...then there's the ride back

Stone > Fulford > Tean > Rocester > Utch is a lovely route, too. Some great hills within the first few miles and towards the end of the route.

One of my favourite rides was from Stafford to A41 Newport along the old disused railway through Haughton & Gnosall, safe no traffic to worry about
