Hi looking for a Bromley to London commuting buddy

Is there anyone on the forum who does the daily commute from Bromley who wouldn't mind a reasonably fit newbie joining them for the commute?

I've tried using a GPS, but find it too much trying to keep track of cars/clipping in and out and gears all at the same time!

I would prefer a quieter route even if it is longer.

Hopefully I'll hear from someone soon.

There are quite a few on here. I'm not much use to you as I commute at odd hours, plus I prefer main roads for the faster progress, so tend to take the A21/A20/A202

From Bromley you can take the backstreets to Catford and then the Waterlink way to Lewisham.
Am happy to show you the route one morning.

What part of London you commuting to?

I ride most Monday's and Tuesday's from Chislehurst. I leave about 06.30am and go to Camden via Westminster Bridge. Happy to help as others on the forum helped me.

Mista, do you come towards central Bromley, or is that a big detour for you?

I should be free on Tuesday morning and would be happy to accompany you along one of the quieter routes (more or less along the lines of what Ianrauk suggested - and have a look at the balanced route here - http://www.cyclestreets.net/journey/1664007/ which will take you from where you leave the Waterlink Way and head up to town). If you prefer something along the lines of green quietest route the main drawback is that you will have to carry your bike up 70-odd steps to get out of the Greenwich Foot Tunnel.

I'm based pretty much in central Bromley near the swan & mitre pub opposite the Bromley magistrates court, or I could commute closer to your respective starts.

What time do you leave?

I could meet you at the Partridge Pub. And we can scoot down Church Road rather then the A21.

I'm unemployed so infinitely flexible, John. I live just round the corner from where Ian works and, if you take the Waterlink Way with Ian, you'll ride past my door, so if you can coordinate times it's perfect for me. If there's too much of a time difference for you two, I can come up to Bromley and meet you there.
