I used to have to cycle to Chippenham every day too. I did my 'A' levels in the college there, and I didn't want to waste money on the bus. Bloody horrible road, that - really busy and really fast.

I did try using the main road for the whole journey once, it was alot quicker but I really didn't feel safe. I tend to follow the main road out of Chippenham then turn off through Reybridge and down the back roads through Lacock. Takes an extra 10 mins but I can live with that
