I think I quite fancy one of these

Except for the small matter of the price!

Still, I was never a fan of all those demi-johns and yeast packets and bungs etc... and it never tasted any good, hi-tech and simple.

What do you think, all you home brewers?

The cost of the kit represents around nine years worth of alcohol spending at the current supermarket retail prices.

When I could be bothered, I used to make some great beers and wines using traditional kit.

I'm just finishing one of the last bottles of my final wine making session, a 1984 elderberry. Very tasty it is too. I wish that I'd make some in the intervening years.

For a while used to make my own beer and wine too. Some of it good, some diabolical, some downright poisonous.

A handy device like that would be great but at almost £3000 I wouldn't be able to afford it. Reading the stuff on the site it seems in time a less expensive version might be possible. Mind you it would have to be a LOT less expensive for me.

I've started brewing wine again (after about a 20 year break). I've got 3 on the go at the mo. A pinot grigio, a shiraz and a strawberry, that should be ready on Tuesday. I don't have enough space to brew beer any more but might use the garage in the summer and get some for later in the year. I would like to be able to justify that bit of kit but....... (must win the lottery)

In my farmworking days (1978-1984) I brewed beer because I had the room and the time and it was the only way I could afford it. Homebrew shops abounded. The last one in London that I know of has now been turned in to a bike shop selling 'fixies'. Such is the way of things.......
