Hi everyone
I’ve just joined - first post, wahey!
Looking forward to picking up some tips and hopefully receiving some much-needed advice over the next few months.
I did a load of cycling in my youth but will shortly be “back in the saddle” come Christmas Day as I’ve purchased a 2007 Scott Speedster P6 (see picture), which I cannot wait to pound the streets on! I bought it from Leeds Bike Mill, a not for profit set up with qualified mechanics who take in donated bikes and refurbish ‘em. I bought my son a new Apollo mountain bike (I know - we allowed him up to £350, but he really wasn’t bothered - he liked “the silver one”
), so thought I’d get myself a Christmas present as well.
Personally, I’d always preferred the idea of getting an older decent-ish make bike, rather than a new not-so-great one - and I couldn’t care less about suspension and disc brakes (more weight and maintenance, if you ask me). When I was in my teens I always dreamed of owning a US make (Marin would’ve been the ultimate, but I’m not complaining), so I’m very proud of my modest purchase.
I had to email Scott to ask for more info as Google surprisingly wasn’t that much help, and they pointed me towards a French-language webpage which gave me some specs, but I haven’t managed to find out more about this year-specific model.
Has anybody ever owned one of these bikes? Any thoughts and/or memories anyone would like to share would be greatly appreciated.
