Hi,

The names Stephen. I live in dartford, kent. Just acquired a fairly good road/offroad bike via the ride to work scheme. Its a boardman CX comp and I'm loving it. The only complaint is that it has toe clips on the pedals, which I have a job getting into! Any advice would be good. I'm 55 this year. If there is anyone who needs a riding partner in the Dartford area, I'm your man.

:welcome: to CycleChat! When I bought my road bike it came with toe clips and I took them straight off as I knew I wouldn't get on with them!

I rode with flat pedals for a bit then took the plunge with clipless pedals and love it! I went for MTB SPDs as the cleats that clip into the pedals are recessed in the sole of the shoe so I can walk in them.

People who have had toe clips and moved on to SPDs say they are easier to use as you don't have to lean down to loosen/tighten them.

Welcome.

There are a few good cycling clubs in the Dartford area
CC Bexley meet at Horton Kirby cricket club
West kent RC - @ Wilmington
Seeds - dartford football?
Gemini bc - I think meet on the Heath

Look them up and take the plunge and join one of them - you won't regret it.

Happy cycling
Keith
