I've got a Brompton 6 speed (2 speed derailier & 3 speed hub) which I use every day (50t front, 15t/13t rear). Now that my fitness has improved I don't use the bottom gear of my hub at all (so 2 gears unused) but I could really do with another gear or 2 on top.
After playing around with a speadsheet for a while I came up with the ideal solution - change the rear sprockets from 15/13 to 13/11. This takes a gear off the bottom, sticks it on the top & leaves the other 5 virually unchanged. The only problem is that there is no 11t sprocket that fits...
The other option is to get a bigger front ring, but even a 54t wouldn't make *that* much difference - but better than nothing...
So my questions are:
- is there a way to change the read derailier to 13/11?
or
- Am I restricted to Brompton front sprockets?
or
- are there any other solutions (that'll cost less than 30 quid)
