I only stand while riding fixed or single speeds.

If I regularly feel the need to stand while riding a geared bike, I would review the gear ratios.

Seated almost all the time. If it's very short I may try to power up it standing up but find I tend to be able to climb quicker seated and using the upwards pedal motion more.

I swear I heard a guy complain about the ramp onto the Manc way during the greatcycle earlier in the month, all dressed in lycra on an bianchi, saying he'd been told it was a flat route...FFS

I hate hills!
I love my granny gear.
I must confess to getting off the bike occasionally, and have been known to walk faster up the hill pushing the bike!
I don't feel very comfortable - or confident - if I stand, so I rarely do.

A mixture. Usually I'm seated, 'cos I can go up them faster. But at the steepest bits and near the top I stand. It's more about the gear you're in rather than seating/standing.

Given everywhere around me is up/or down hills I've had a lot of practice in the past 18 months.

Any hill: steep, shallow, sharp, long or short I stay in the saddle all the time. I find 'out of the saddle' a bit difficult.

I power up short ramps of hills instead of changing down if I can. I tend to stay seated on longer climbs but if they are really long then I'll change up a couple gears and stand up for a bit just to use some different muscles for a bit.
