Hilton Valentine dies.

The Animals guitarist best known for his adaption of the blues classic House of The Rising Sun has died aged 77.
Although Alan Price was credited with the writing it was Hilton who actually did most of the work.
Legendary guitarist from a legendary band.
Still one of my favourite recordings and one of the few things I can still play on the guitar.
May he rest in peace.

I saw an interview with Eric Burdon. He claimed that they all collaborated on House of Rising Sun, and were gobsmacked when the record came out with Price's name as arranger. Meant he got all the royalties and the rest of them got nothing. That was the start of the break up of the band.

Very sad indeed, the Animals were a great group and made some great records. I remember when at school, about three lads in our class who were also learning to play guitar, we had a little competition between us to see who could learn the chords for House of the rising sun first, think I won!
