My son was driving his fiancée home from work tonight when they were hit on a roundabout near home, lad was on the roundabout when someone ignored the give way and drove onto the roundabout hitting them just behind the nearside head lamp and spinning them round, by the time they had stopped spinning the other driver was already driving off. Fortunately neither of them were hurt, though both were badly shaken up, the front of the cars a right mess. The lads 24 and only passed his test in August, the cars an elderly Corsa he struggled to get the money together for, we think the other car was a people carrier, in the darkness and confusion he didn't get a good look at it, though he has a witness.

Bloody hell!!

There are some excuses for drivers out there. That is terrible. I'm glad to hear you son and his fiancee were ok.

Yikes - the other driver wouldn't have known if there were injuries or not. Just driving away, regardless - there are some real tossers about!

I'm glad that your son and fiancée are both okay Dave.

Other driver highly likely to be drunk - pity the witness didn't get numberplate or even part of it- but best part is they are OK.

Report to Police and see if they can get CCTV nearby to identify. Might be a hiding to nothing... but if you don't ask...

Gald it wasn't worse!

Incident was reported shortly after it happened. My lad spent a lot of the morning filling in forms in at the cop shop, also informing the insurance, no chance of a claim as he's third party, he's had his first estimate for repair, a grand. The only thing we know about the other car is it was probably a Vauxhall Zafira people carrier. Though I'm glad that neither of them were hurt I'm also angry about what's happened, the lads behaved responsibly, he got passed his test in August at the first attempt, he then took the after test driving course to cover the stuff that hadn't been covered before the test, for a beginner his driving isn't bad, he was careful when he picked his car and made sure everything was legal. Then he gets taken out by one of the idiots on the road.

There's something called the MIB (M-something Insurance Board, possibly?) which exists to help people who are in an accident with uninsured motorists. I have no idea if they do anything for the victims of hit-and-runs, but it might be worth investigating?
