Actually, if she passed her test in the last year a Failing To Stop may be an instant ban on it's own. Kind of a built-n reason for idiots like that to flee the scene. What did she say? Can't make it out.

She seemed to be saying "You're fine". As if she doesn't have to apologise for hitting him because he isn't DSI. I don't understand people like her. Putting the terrible driving to one side for a minute, the least anyone should do in that situation is stop, apologise, check the cyclist is ok...etc

I always dread the day that some total moron attempts a move like that on me. The police van driver might not have been helpful, but I hope he gets a result if / when he reports it. By the way, I winced when the cyclist undertook the lorry, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt in the circumstances.
But will the CPS or the magistrates... I'd say likely not unless the driver is already known to plod.

As to ethnic origin.

The car is brand new (march 13) and if like all the Indian/Asian girls I know "daddy" would have most likely have purchased the car for them and would kill them if they've had an accident and could explain why she's drives away!!
Most young people driving new cars will have been given them by their parents or are driving Mummy's car. Are you suggesting that Indian/Asian fathers react differently to those of other ethnicities when their little ones have RTCs?

They often do, it's a patriarchal family unit, the insurance on that car in South London for a young driver would easily be four figures even if she's just a named driver.

That is just typical of the total disrespect for anybody that drivers demonstrate. She should never have even tried to pass you there and she must have heard if not felt that clonk as she hit you at speed. She clearly had no intention of stopping even when you asked her to do so. The reaction of the police officier was unforgivable, the officer should be ashamed of themselves.

If it were my video I would send it to the police and submit a complaint against the driver and the officer.

Glad you arnt physically hurt.

8m+ people in the centre of the city..In that position in that place the mirror would have become detached from its mounting.
