Ugh, an area I try to avoid cycling and indeed driving in!

Should be CCTV around the area hopefully

dibble? the cops were good and I presume they sent out a "look for this car" request. I imagine he went right home and hid it out of sight, and if not legal to be on the road, then there is no way of tracing it. I would be happy to troll through the videos, I know exactly what time it happend as all on the Garmin.

Even if they can't trace it now if they're able to get the full VRM via VODS or BOF they can put a marker on ANPR and next time it pings a camera, which is likely in a built up area, it'll trigger an alarm, so its worth investing the effort now even if it doesn't immediately bear fruit.

thats good to hear Drago.

It is a rough area for sure, but it is my route down to Brighton, so not there too long. Just an a*hole driver.

If you know the make and colour of the vehicle ask the dibble to do a VODS check. It *might* identify the vehicle.

Similarly, if its a built up area then a manual trawl through BOF *might* identify the vehicle, thought that's a longer shot.

Good luck.
Why get the police to do that. Its easy enough do it, and from there check the DVLA site.

Search for a thread Accident Advice on what you can do, from this point on.
I'll add the link later. Link added

Hi there, had my first accident yesterday in over 10years. Hit & run, Bashed, bruised and bandaged. Bike is FUBAR'd. Although this didn't happen during a "commute", thought it best to post in this section as more likely to be able to get help.

So, I doubt the guy is insured, hence why he drove off. I got the last 3digits of the registration. Cops and ambulance came very quick. Three very good witnesses not including myself and another cyclist who arrived as I was on the floor still. So, who recommends which company to try and get some cash for the bike and injuries? I've got to check, but I am sure the bike is not on the household insurance. I see there are companies listed at the back of the LCC magazine. I would like first hand knowledge really.

I doubt if the other cyclist is on here who arrived on the scene, but I would like to thank him for staying, giving a statement to the cops, helping me off the road with my bike, calling the cops etc. Total star and puts my faith back in the world. The two girls who were out jogging too, amazing, thank you. The guy on the way back from the shops, amazing. I couldn't believe how helpful and kind people were. Someone from one of the houses asked us in for tea while we waited which was very kind too. The cops did a great job and took down all the details professionally and without pressure or hurrying me. The ambulance crew too, fantastic! Both the services turned up real quick, surprisingly quickly. The people and A&E too, wow. So, I just wanted to say thank you to them all..
Get well soon! Hope they catch the bugger!

The feds will need to get the full reg via VODS before the DVLA website shows owt, and even then if the vehicle has no current keeper...

Hi there, I spoke to the cops yesterday, again very helpfull. Even though I have the last 3 digits, they really need one from the first part too.

Try one of the others in the back of the magazine. However, they aren't likely going to want to get involved as their raison d'être is making money out of pursuing third party miscreants who admit liability. In this case, unfortunately, there isn't one as yet. You have three years to sue for personal injury and six for damage to pretty. So you might be best waiting to see if plod find the driver and then go after him, although if he's uninsured, you're probably screwed again

LCC use http://cycleinjuries.co.uk/

They also suggest emailing Head of Cycling, Stuart Kightley atstuart@cycleinjuries.co.uk

(this is on the public site, so you can do that without being a member)

ah yes that is the ones i actually got through too today. they are calling tomorrow. but like we were saying before, there isnt too much anyone can do yet. I might be able to claim against the motor insurance bureau?

Download the MIB forms and start recording some of the details at least. You'll have the forms completed if required and as a written record if they aren't.
