A woman's body 'found' next to the A90 with injuries consistent with being hit by a vehicle....
RIP
It doesn't matter if she was riding a bike, walking, crossing the road, pushing a pram, on a motorbike, or in another car - she deserved for the other party to bloody stop and at least offer some help?
No, on goes the motorised killing machine, whose FIRST reaction was 'Sod you, self-preservation'
What do law-abiding, considerate and careful motorists (that are the majority) have to fear from lengthy custodial sentences for killer drivers?
Nothing.
BTW, this is not a political topic, it's humanitarian.
A family have lost a loved one, and the person that did it even has a ready-made excuse courtesy of the police: "My initial understanding is that it may have been very foggy at the time when the collision occurred. And that certainly may be an avenue which we have to look at and will be developing."
If they didn't see her, they must have surely FELT her? They cannot have hit a human being and not known?
There are too frequent cases of hit and run, and we need to crack down on the drivers. Would it help if we lied, and said the victim had a relative in the Ox-Cam boat race?
Now, next time you go out in a vehicle, ask yourself this:
Can I safely bring my vehicle to a stop in the distance I can see to be clear in front of it?
If the answer is yes, you are driving safely and looking ahead. If no, then you need to ease off the throttle until the answer becomes yes. Road safety really is that simple.
