Hit today - luckily minor bump

Was cycling along a back street, (and I had already noticed the car behaving a bit oddly but just odd nothing more), then it stopped to talk to "friends", at the same time as I noticed police lights at the end of the road - stationary.

I heard a bit of conversation, as I was passing that sounded suspicious and at the same moment the car suddenly did a reverse back, swinging out and hitting me (just foot and pannier), and then speed off the opposite way. Police quickly followed - asked if I had been hit - I said yes - mates said no!! Then they followed the car, and I left the area - didn't want to hang around with the mates.

I have since reported it and been given an incident no... but feeling shaken up... I got back on and rode abit but realised I was making mistakes as I wasn't concentrating properly so got off and walked.

You did the right thing - if the police need to speak to you, they know where you are.

Back on the bike today - fine apart from a slightly oversensitive reaction to cars on my left hand side.

Pannier looks fine-ish - the red layer on my Ortlieb Classic panniers has been scraped away down to a white weave sort of layer. Will it still be waterproof or is that the purpose of the red layer. I have found some repair kits on SJS but there seems to be a variety:
