Hitched with bikes in Cyprus once.

On a sandwich placement in rural Wales, I used to hitch back and forth from Llangadog to Llanelli sometimes. Met some very interesting and friendly people!

Used to do it all the time until I got my own car. Nothing out of the ordinary to report apart from sharing the back seat of a Mini with a huge, growling Alsatian while the couple in front kept telling me how friendly he was.

I went to University of Warwick and I was usually on Gibbet Hill and I was always waiting at that bus stop and nobody EVER offered me a lift like that!!!

Hmm, we are talking 39 years ago now...

When I was eighteen, I got a lift from Ostend to Salzburg with a gay truckdriver delivering Ford car parts. Fending off his wandering hands in the middle of the night took a certain amount of diplomacy. I got as far as the south end of Yugoslavia before the lifts ran out, and took the train to Istanbul. Later on I had a good ride from the Indian border to Katmandhu sitting on the back of a truck delivering thousands of bottles of Coke. Have you ever sat on top of bottles of Coke on a bumpy road? It is blooming uncomfortable.
