The motorist that didn`t see me on a local roundabout last year was in court yesterday and pleaded guilty to Driving without due care and consideration and got 6 points and a fine!
I`m still unable to cycle yet but hope to be back in the saddle in August with a bit of luck.

If you were hit badly enough to be off the bike for so long it does sound a bit lenient, hope you get back cycling soon.

Did he/she hit you? and if so is that why you haven't cycled since due to injury and fear of something similar happening again?
The motorist knocked me off the bike and I spent two months in hospital/care home with a fracture shoulder which I may only get 80% mobility back in, also had a fracture heel I`m still using a elbow crutch to get about on with this but should be off it in a few weeks time, also had a few cracked ribs but of course they alright now.
Slater & Gordon are dealing with my claim, what funny is my bike didn`t even get a scratch on it, just a tear on the Handlebar tape! Can`t wait to get back on the bike this is the longest I`ve been off it in 36 years of cycling really missing it.

Doesn't sound fair to me. Surely the length of time that someone is "inconvenienced" by another's actions should be taken into account once a guilty verdict is reached and an "appropriate " sentence given.
However, I would add that if I ever become part of the judiciary (although hell would probably freeze over first) I would at least remove their licence commensurate with the injuries caused and recovery time taken. Either that or I would be struck off post haste the first time I sentenced someone to be hanged! On certain issues Pol Pot would seem like Mother Theresa compared to me

A like for this, not for the rest of the post, best wishes.

No justice at all. Basically it is two times the standard slap on the wrist for speeding when a camera catches you.

Are you able to bring a private case against him for your injuries? I guess that just gets paid by his insurance and he feels nothing.

Sounds like you are on a long road to recovery and I do hope you get back in the saddle and enjoy it the more for being without it for so long.

Hopefully his insurers will put his annual insurance fees up considerably!
