Hmmm, what to wear?

I'm doing a Family ride along the canal tomorrow for Scottish Waterways.
It's forecast to be a max of 11 degrees with sunny spells. It will be a slow ride (around 7-8 miles in total), starting at 10.30am and I'm unsure what to wear.
I may be hanging about a bit, so do I dress for the cold and maybe get too warm, or dress warm and be even warmer!
Suggestions please!

When your not too sure of thye weather laying is the best, I'd go three thin layer as you get warmer take one off

I always prefer to be too warm, with the option of cooling down than be too cold standing around waiting or whatever.

I may go with shorts though....my legs don't seem to feel the cold.

Good point....but lycra tends to hold it all together and apparently my ass is my best feature

It's quite cold and a bit misty.
The cloud is to break at about midday with clear sun from 2pm onwards.
Thermal base layer has been dug out....still debating on longs or shorts...

with our respective (medical) histories, I know that I am playing it safe and going with longs. Would rather be too warm later on in the day when warm and damp is not a problem and the sun will dry me off, than cold! Dense fog is starting to roll in here though (local large river is notorious for it and it will take us an hour to cycle through it to the otherside!)
