Can anyone help me with information on my latest skip find? it came with a rear wheel and a Brooks saddle on an alloy stem. The frame number looks like 29875 or possibly 20875

Thank you I think you’re right. I’ve done a bit of research since posting and the GB Coureur 66 centre pull brakes were released in 61 so assuming they’re original it’s the higher frame number 29875 which dates the bike to 1965 according to tables I found on retrobike.co.uk

Now at Butterworth’s bike shop in Sheffield having the crank and head badge removed and the rear forks widened to fit a modern 27 x 1 1/4 wheel, prior to me removing the other components from the frame ready for powder coating. Some things are best left to experts with the right tools?

A lot of those chrome bits will clean up looking a lot better with some Hammerite Rust Removing Gel on them . I've cleaned up quite a number of parts using it .
Nice looking frame .

There are some posh skips up your way !

That's what I was thinking. So much for the North/South divide when "poor" Northerners can afford to chuck away Holdsworths, whereas down here, where the streets are allegedly paved with gold, the best bike I've pulled out of a skip was an old Halfords Apollo! OK, I did also rescue an unwanted 501 framed Raleigh MTB, but that wasn't technically a skip find since the owner never got as far as actually dumping it as I took it off his hands first..
