Here's another reason to take pictures.

I am starting off with a tea spoon I picked up from the Hilton hotel, Nicosia in Cyprus in the 1990's .

I was doing on freelance work on the Cyprus and Lebanese car rallies for a couple of friends and this was an easy souvenir and is still used on a regular basis.

It’ people like this who end up with houses full of foreign ancient artefacts, sparking international incidents ;-)

‘I leave only footprints, and take only memories’ (preen, preen).
In other words, I’m too cheap for souvenirs.

I was just thinking a couple of weeks ago. When we were kids we collected things like admission tickets from holiday trips and collaged them as a reminder of the holiday. With everything being online now kids won't come home from a trip with things like that. I suppose there'll be more pressure to buy actual souvenirs as a reminder.

We’ve made up a few ‘Memory Boards’ of some more memorable trips. With pics, tickets, menus, business cards etc. This one was from a month travelling primarily around California and a stop in New York on the way back. Apologies for the reflections. Not easy to stop. But you get the idea…..

My wife and I went to Texas in 2018 where 75 years earlier my father won his wings as an RAF pilot.
We were guests of honour at the Tarrell airfield where he trained, on an air display day attended by hundreds of Americans and their family’s. I was flown in a Boeing Stearman on the day at exactly 75 years after my father won his wings and before he took part in air combat course.
They presented me with this cap and as a founder member of the Terrell British Flying Training School (BFTS).
