On a more helpful note for MrP possibly - I have seen documentaries about the Belgian coast, and it looked sensational.

Plopplyploppyland would be great to visit - but as I recall there were miles of sandy beaches etc?

Sorry, Mr P - never actually stayed overnight at the coast.

We camped right next to Plopaland last August on the way home from touring Flanders, the roads were gidlocked for hours. There's a train that runs all the way along the coast.

Koksijde-Bad is quite a nice area in the summer (it's also where the recent World CX Championships were held!).
