I'm sure you - and others - can.

The OP, however, ruled out this option in her first post.
Yes I did read that originally ,then rather forgot - my error

I guess I'm a bit sceptical of a box sold only via the back pages of the radio times, rather than in the high street.
There's some Bose magic box sold in a similar way - and Bose is at least an established company

Of course, both could be fine products, but ....

I would just like a radio that had a nice friendly presenter and some pleasant music in the morning.
Radio 2 has Chris Evans shouting like a hyperactive toddler every morning.
I only have the choice of two local commercial stations, each playing the same three adverts every 15 minutes.

Even on ipad I cannot find anything.

Well that's where you're going wrong. Radio 3 and the lovely Clemmie Burton-Hill with her calm and knowledgable presentation of great music.

I claim no expertise, but the Brennan has been around a good few years now and it does have a decent reputation.

Someone I used to work with had one.

He was a reasonably sensible fellow and was pleased with it last I heard.
Richer Sounds sell Brennan, not sure if that's any recommendation though
I've always been quite impressed by Richer Sounds, having bought various things off them over the years.
The sales guys seem to know what they're talking about, and are only half-hearted about about up-selling super-dooper cables or extended warranties. Last time they tried the extended warranty, I'm afraid I snorted slightly louder than I intended, and the chap said, "I wouldn't either to b honest" and carried on with the sale. Last time I bought a telly, was considering carrying it home, rather than getting the car - it was big rather than heavy - and to be fair to the bloke he left the shop with me and we carried it to my flat between us - OK only a couple of hundred yards, but pretty good service.

As someone slightly technical, I guess they can't bullshit me properly, but I'm no expert on high fi.
That said, they did try and argue I needed an I-pod doc with pre-amp when I only wanted a cable, but hey ho - the bloke was convinced in his own mind I think.

How many CDs do you have?

The Brennan is regarded as an excellent piece of kit, but you will need to 'load' your CDs on to it, which is time consuming.

Unless you can find a way of shunting your digital collection across from your phone.

That would be quicker, but loading direct will almost certainly give better quality.

Not that many @Pale Rider At one time I did load most of them onto the PC - when I worked at home & had the PC on all day.

TBH the Brennan looks fairly ugly so I'm not about to rush out and buy one  It doesn't seem that easy to do what I want so I'll probably stick with my little Sony system until it gives up the ghost.

I feel a licence fee rant coming ;)
Not from me. It'd be a bit hypocritical since I don't have TV and have never paid a licence fee

I guess you've still got electric. My brother in Lancaster hasn't - luckily he has a gas cooker & fire & he's busy using up the contents of his freezer!
