Well it's now that time of year when my lunch at work changes from sandwiches & salads to soup. I make the usual, minestrone, vegetable & I've got a nice spicy tomato recipe.
I made a new one for the week a red lentil, chick pea & chilli soup which tasted wonderful when I made it yesterday (I love a good hit of chilli, so put loads in!)

Tomato soup - Spuds, carrots, onions, celery, chopped toms. Couple of oxo cubes if you ain't a veggie and plenty of fresh ground pepper. Sweat all the veg in a bit of butter, chuck in the oxo and cover with water and boil until the veg is soft add the pepper whenever you feel like it. Run it through a blender, job done.

lamb shoulder, salted and peppered and placed in the oven to slowly cook and brown, and reduce the fat content

grate onions, carrots, and slice /cube celery, winter greens, parsnips, celerac and any other winter greens including loads of green leafy stuff

place the meat with the veg in a large pot, add 3 packs on powdered Knorr Minestrone powder soup, 2 tins of Heinz cream of tomato soup, water, a tablespoon of crushed dried Oregano, a good splash of tabasco, a good splash of Worcestershire sauce ...bring to the boil and simmer on low heat for a long time

serve with crusty fresh buttered bread and add some grated paremsan cheese on the soup (and loads of extra fresh ground pepper)

thats the way my mom made soup in South Africa

I make three lentil and pea soup in the winter.
Red lentils, yellow lentils, green lentils, boil them up with ham stock cubes and a chopped onion, throw in a few herbs, then some frozen peas go in towards the end of the boil.
