I had the pleasure of a trip around their factory a couple of years ago when I arranged it for my mountain bike club. Barnoldswick has a long history of manufacturing precision parts for Rolls Royce aero engines so the workforce are accustomed to working to precision and I would imagine that their experience has benefited Hope enormously.

Everybody who has ever needed to contact Hope about a spare part or a problem has been impressed by their attitude and their after sales service.

Fascinating article here: Hope Technology

My Hope hubs and C2 disk brakes have been totally reliable for 10 years.

That closed system brake design does have one major flaw though - the brake fluid heats up rapidly and tends to lock the brakes on. I have to back the brakes off as I descend using the thumbwheels provided. After about 5 minutes of braking I run out of adjustment.

Still, apart from having to change pads from time to time, the brakes have been maintenance-free so I'm not complaining!

I've always had misgivings about brakes labelled "Hope" - do they have a sister company "Pray"? It's like buying a hard disk called "Fireball"

Joking aside, have talked to them a few times about the C2 brakes on our workbike and can't fault their knowledge or helpfulness. And my Vision 1 is perfect in almost every way

Yes, my original Minis do pump up but they soon recover. The only maintenance they seem to need is an annual clean to remove the black paste that accumulates around the pistons.

I've only had extremely positive experiences from their customer care. Ok, so their stuff's not cheap, but I'll certainly be buying Hope again.
